As I was leaving work yesterday, I saw someone in the classroom across the hall setting up a projector screen, and on the screen was what was going on in the auditorium downstairs. It was 4:40 pm, and there were already people waiting for the Chomsky lecture to begin (which by the way, didn't start until 7:30pm). So, needless to say that it was THE social event of the year in Antigonish. Everyone was there from my Grade 12 history teacher, to the boy I had a crush on in Grade 11. Overall, the lecture was interesting. For a man touted as being the third most quoted man, falling behind The Bible, and some other really important literary figure that I can't remember right now, he was very concise, and didn't use any 12 syllable words (unlike other less intelligent people who pepper their everyday conversation with them). But unfortunately, whenever I hear something about the War on Terror, I begin listening intently with great interest, only to find myself a few later, staring off into space wondering how old the married couple sitting in front of us were (E and I decided afterwards that they couldn't be any older than us....I pinned them at 21 or 22...I love how great minds think alike!). Plus, due to the room being stuffed to overflowing with people, it was really too hot to think coherently. But still an enjoyable experience!
