weekly update

Sadly there isn't anything too interesting going on in my life right now asides from coming and going to work, sitting on my behind watching TV, and reading. But there is always a little room for some good ol' bitching! What is the deal with small talk? Do we really need it all the time? Can people not recognize that some people just don't want to sit back and chit-chat idly to strangers? And when you give nothing back in chit-chat but the bare bones of conversation, WHY do they still INSIST on digging around in the dirt for something else to talk about? Nine times out of ten I end up leaving whatever stranger I was talking to feeling like a complete igit. Take my optometrist appointment last week. After chatting about my eye health, the usual questions came about where do you work, what do you do, etc. These kind of questions I can handle with relative ease. Then came the killer question: "So, do you have any hobbies or sports that you are interested in"? I stopped for a moment and thought about the question while looking around my doctor's office which was covered in pictures of him skiing down what looked like Mount Everest, and him waving from an Accuve Race car. I said I didn't have any hobbies, and as I heard the words coming out of my mouth, I realized how pathetic I am. It wasn't like I could say, well I like to read, watch TV and attend the gym to reduce my fat ass. I felt like I was an 98 year old recluse. It wasn't a good feeling. I felt there feeling like I had to start skiing or bungee jumping or something. Wise. That was my week. Now I have to get back to acting like a senior citizen.

i know what you mean. It's like life is a game of double dutch and you're waiting for your chance to jump in, but you've never played and have no idea how to do it.

I just watched a big colourful movie about a happy family bbq and feel seriously drab and alone as a result.

    What's up with that?
